Getting Involved: Client Engagement

Sussex Oakleaf are committed to ensuring that clients are at the heart of the organisation. We work with individuals in equal partnership, and recognise the important impact clients can have on how we operate.

Volunteering
We have a wide range of volunteering opportunities, some working directly with clients, others working behind scenes. Volunteers make an invaluable contribution to Sussex Oakleaf, enabling us to provide a high-quality service we can all be proud of.

Focus on Oakleaf
Sussex oakleaf produces a quarterly magazine called Focus on oakleaf. The magazine includes contributions from clients, volunteers and staff. As well as submitting articles, clients can get involved with the planning of the magazine by joining the ‘Magazine Working Group’.

Recruitment
Clients are involved in the recruitment of our staff. This could involve setting interview questions, meeting applicant informally, short listing applicants and being part of the interview panel.

Comments, Compliments & Feedback
We welcome all feedback from clients about how we are doing, both positive and negative. You can feedback your views to any member of staff or volunteer, or by contacting our central office.

Annual Conference
Every year Sussex Oakleaf hold a conference attended by staff, volunteers and clients. Each conference has a theme and provides an opportunity to learn more about mental health as well as the other services which Sussex Oakleaf provide.

Fundraising
If you would like to raise money for Sussex Oakleaf why not speak to a member of staff about doing some fundraising. You could get active with a sponsored walk or run, alternatively you could hold a tea and coffee morning, the possibilities are endless. Sussex Oakleaf have a dedicated fundraising web page to make fundraising and giving donations even easier.

Oakleaf Consumer Circle
The Oakleaf Consumer Circle (OCC) is a committee of current and former clients. It exists to represent the views of clients across Sussex Oakleaf. The OCC acts as a ‘critical friend’ to the Sussex Oakleaf Board; ensuring the client perspective is considered in everything Sussex Oakleaf does.
