Invitation to Horsham & Mid Sussex CCG and Crawley CCG Tier 2 Mental Health Service Redesign

Tuesday 21st January 2015, 11:00-15:30 at The Martlets Hall, Burgess Hill

Tier 2 services offer targeted mental health support to promote wellbeing, whilst supporting recovery and developing resilience which enables people to live well in their community. These services offer psychological, social and practical support from a variety of providers in the community.

The NHS are inviting people to the second meeting of the Tier 2 Reference Group to take the next steps towards designing the new Tier 2 service.

They want the whole community to be involved in this redesign so that they are inviting:

  • A large number of clients and carers
  • Third sector colleagues from current Tier 2 services
  • Statutory service colleagues from Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust and Sussex Community Trust
  • GP colleagues
  • Commissioners and Managers from Health and Social Care

There aim for the day is to feedback from the Tasks and Finish Teams formed after the first Reference Group, using this to develop the new Service Design.

They have stressed the importance of our involvement in this event is; for creating a new model of service delivery to improve their existing good services.

They have an amazing double decker ‘do stuff bus’ filled with artistic activities upstairs and downstairs and have commissioned ‘Ginger Moo Arts Consortium’ to run workshops in their marquee. Northern Campus Open Day - Monday 27th April 2015, 12-3pm at Crawley Library

Sussex Recovery College offers inspiring educational courses about mental health and recovery which is designed to increase your knowledge and skills , and to promote self-management.

Access - courses are FREE for adults of all ages with long-standing, moderate or severe mental health challenges, their supporters (relatives, friends and carers) and the staff of Sussex Partnership NHS Trust and other partner organisations.

Course Delivery - all courses are co-produced which means they are planned, designed and delivered by people with lived experience of mental health challenges, and mental health professionals.

Brightview Spring Fair - Friday 15 May 2015, 11am ’til 3pm in Eastbourne

Brightview in Eastbourne is holding a Spring Fair on Friday 15 May from 11am ’til 3pm. The fair is being organised by clients as part of Mental Health Awareness Week which runs from 11-17 May. The topic this year is Mindfulness and a mental health information board will be available at the Fair. There will be lots to do including being able to purchase refreshments, handmade arts / crafts, jewellery, plants and flowers. There will also be a tombola and all the money raised will go towards the Brightview client fund. Please find below a poster about the event.

The Old Chapel in Hailsham and The Bellbrook Centre in Uckfield are both holding a BBQ and fair on Wednesday 13 May. They have been organised as part of Mental Health Awareness Week which is being held 11-17 May this year with the topic ‘Mindfulness’. Refreshments will be available along with a raffle and games. The group is for individuals who consider themselves on the broad spectrum of transgender. Papilio has been set up to increase individuals social networks to provide a safe place where they are not alone and to feel supported. The group meets in a friendly and confidential setting on the second Wednesday evening of each month. Carers and family members are also welcome to come along by prior arrangement. The meetings are informal over tea, coffee and biscuits and offer the opportunity to make new friends and contacts. There are changing facilities available. Saturday 7th July, 14:00-17:00 - ‘Sussex Oakleaf clients go into business’, Crawley Craft Fair, Queens Square, Crawley. Steps Wellbeing Service Arts and Crafts social enterprise will be selling a selection of merchandise such as handcrafted jewellery, handmade dreamcatchers, handpainted prints and much more. The social enterprise is entirely client led and is enriching and meaningful for both the clients involved and for customers alike. If you are in Crawley on the 7th, please come along and support the Arts and Crafts social enterprise.
Wednesday 4th July 2012 - Canadian Cookery Day at Oakgrove, Crowborough. A belated celebration of Canada Day on 1st July in honour of our CEO, the North Wealden Community Links Team will be rustling up delicacies such as Canadian Upside Down Cake, sweetcorn fritter and bacon with syrup. Friday 1st June - Thursday 7th June ‘National Volunteers Week’. We want to say a BIG thank you to all our volunteers for all the fantastic work you do across the organisation. This week is national Volunteers Week, an event to celebrate the contribution people make every day in their communities. Without your help we couldn’t support the amount of people we do everyday across West and East Sussex in helping people survive crisis and recover control in their lives.
To celebrate the great work volunteers are involved in, Sussex Oakleaf, The CVS and The Yews are holding an event on Tuesday 12th June at the Yews Centre, Haywards Heath between 1-3pm. Come and enjoy some tea and cake. This event is also open to those interested in volunteering as you will be able to find out about volunteering opportunities. A similar event will be taking place in East Sussex (date to be confirmed) so watch this space.
