Preventative homelessness
Solutions – Advice and Assistance
This Crawley based service works in partnership with Crawley Borough Council and the Supporting People Team, and aims to prevent homelessness by preventing people from losing their home, or to help them find and keep a permanent home.
We work in partnership with other services, and enable people to have access to: signposting, advice, referral to other agencies and support via email, text, phone and drop-in.
We provide information, advice, and support with any of the following:
- Financial problems like arrears, debts or claiming benefits
- Neighbour or landlord problems
- Moving on from temporary or supported accommodation
- Referring into specialist services and housing options
- Bidding for properties at Crawley Borough Council
- Maintaining a tenancy
- Finding a permanent home
- Employment and redundancy issues
- Accessing education or training
- Relationship breakdown
- Escaping from domestic violence
- Finding or accessing other community services
Where longer term support is necessary, we can provide flexible, floating support and move-on support packages. This includes an individual needs assessment and support plan which is regularly reviewed and updated.
We have a team of ten staff, the service is free, and clients can directly access the service by email, telephone, and community drop-ins for information and advice, signposting and referral on to specialist services. Clients can self refer for the floating support service.
The service is for anyone aged 16 or over in the Crawley area, who needs housing related support regardless of whether they are a tenant, living with family, a home owner, in temporary accommodation, at risk of becoming homeless, or homeless already.
