In addition to our services which provide accommodation with support, we also have a range of flexible support services which are not tied to any specific acccommodation. These are Floating Support and Mental Health Outreach.
These services can be used as stand alone services, or they can be combined with one or more other services, and/or accommodation-based services, to create an individually tailored package of support. They are ideally suited to assist someone move from residential care or hospital into supported housing, and also from supported housing into independent accommodation.
They can also be used as short-term extra support put in place to help someone through a temporary crisis and avoid a hospital admission or placement breakdown.
A flexible and comprehensive package of support will be designed by the client based on their needs and wishes. This can be short, medium or longer term, and is compatible with self directed support and individual budgets.
Two thirds of all British press and TV coverage on mental health includes an association with violence. (Health Education Authority 1998) 44% of respondents to a study by the Mental Health Foundation in 2000 reported stigma and discrimination from GPs. Sandamas and Hogman, 2000, found that black people are twice as likely to be involuntarily detained under the Mental Health Act than white people.
